Wayne is passionate about people, and for the last 17 years has been involved in the lives of others in a professional capacity in some way or another. For a number of years, he worked as a personal trainer in the fitness industry helping people achieve their personal health goals and enjoyed that period of his life immensely. While working in general acute mental health and forensics mental health inpatient services as a psychiatric assistant he decided to challenge himself further by becoming a Registered Nurse specialising in mental health and addictions studies along with a Post Graduate Certificate from Auckland University. As well as Wayne’s work in acute inpatient and community psychiatric services, he has his own lived experience of addiction to draw from. Wayne gains great satisfaction from the investment made into the lives of guests at Capri Sanctuary and the work they do on their own individual journeys of recovery.
